Set up your first sale, step by step

Disco Flash Sale Bulk Discount ("Disco") is a Shopify flash sale app by ProductEssentials. It sets sale prices in bulk, runs scheduled sales and reverts prices when they end, and adds countdown timers, announcement bars, sale badges and a flash sale landing page.

These are the same steps as the interactive guide above, from installing the app to the moment the sale ends.

  1. Install Disco. Install Disco Flash Sale Bulk Discount from the Shopify App Store. The free Starter plan needs no credit card. Then click Install app embed in the app's Setup guide to switch on the storefront widgets. Online Store 2.0 themes need no theme code.
  2. Create a sale. Click Create sale and choose Same discount, one discount for every product, or Different discounts, a discount per product (Professional plan and up). Give the sale a Title: Disco uses it for the sale collection and the sale page too.
  3. Pick the products. On the Include products tab, choose All products for a storewide sale, or Select products, collections, tags or types. To keep items at full price, add them on the Exclude products / collections tab (Lite plan and up).
  4. Set the discount and the dates. Pick Percentage, Amount off or New price, and enter the discount. Under Active dates, set when the sale starts and ends. Disco starts and ends it on its own, so you don't have to be at your desk.
  5. Add urgency. Turn on Show countdown timer on product page for a timer on every discounted product, and Create collection for a collection of the sale's products; both are on every plan. The announcement bar and Sale badges come with Lite, and Add flash sale page with Professional. On the Business plan, tick Block discount codes on sale products so codes can't stack on the sale price.
  6. Preview and save. Click Preview on storefront to check the sale before it starts, then save it. At the start time, Disco writes the sale price and the compare-at price in Shopify, so shoppers see the discount on product and collection pages without a code.
  7. Let it end. At the end time, Disco puts the original prices back. The timer, the badges and the sale bar show only while the sale is active, so they go with it.
